About the role: The Injury Management Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of employees at Respect Ltd. This position is responsible for managing workplace injuries and facilitating effective return-to-work programs in compliance with Australian workplace health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Working closely with the managers and external service providers, the Injury Management and Return to Work Coordinator will provide expert advice, support, and guidance to help injured employees return to work as quickly, safely, and sustainably as possible.
Key responsibilities include: Oversee the injury management process, ensuring timely and effective response to workplace injuries.Promote and support the use of the early intervention service, and monitor/report ongoing use levels.Collaborate with employees, managers, and medical professionals to assess the severity of injuries and determine appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans.Work with early intervention providers, external medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers, and insurers to facilitate injured employees' recovery.Maintain comprehensive injury records and reports in line with legal and company requirements.Ensure compliance with all relevant state/territory workers' compensation legislation, policies, and procedures.With line managers, develop and implement tailored return-to-work plans for injured employees, ensuring they are supported to return to their pre-injury duties or suitable alternative duties in a safe and structured manner.Ensure regular and effective communication with injured employees, their managers, and relevant stakeholders regarding progress and any necessary adjustments to the RTW plans.Monitor RTW program outcomes, ensuring that employees are effectively reintegrated into the workplace and that accommodations or modifications are provided as necessary.Educate staff and management on workplace injury prevention, workers' compensation, and RTW processes.Provide training to managers on how to manage injury and RTW cases, including the identification of suitable duties and how to communicate effectively with injured employees.Promote a culture of safety and well-being across the organisation by raising awareness of injury management and RTW issues.Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety laws, workers' compensation insurance, and return-to-work policies and procedures.Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with statutory requirements and organisational policies.Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management and external authorities regarding injury management and RTW performance, trends, and outcomes.Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, occupational therapy, physiology, or related field.Certification in Injury Management or Return to Work coordination (desirable).Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the aged care, healthcare, or other high-risk industries.Knowledge and understanding of Australian workers' compensation laws and Return to Work legislation.Experience working with injured employees and managing workers' compensation claims.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, including those with physical or psychological injuries.Ability to develop and implement return-to-work plans and workplace accommodations.Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and stakeholders simultaneously.Proficient in using case management software, Microsoft Office, and workplace safety reporting tools.Ability to interpret medical reports and apply appropriate action in relation to return-to-work planning.Empathetic and supportive, with a strong focus on the well-being of employees.Resilient and solution-focused, with the ability to manage difficult or sensitive situations effectively.Highly organised, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities for process improvement.Ethical and compliant with confidentiality and privacy standards.Benefits: Work from home based on role requirements.Competitive salary and entitlements.Pay incentives including not-for-profit salary packaging.Meaningful work in a purpose-driven organisation.A healthy and positive workplace culture.Learning, development, and growth opportunities.Discounted private health insurance.
