Key InformationPosition Type: Fixed Term until 30 June 2026Location: DarwinSalary Range: Community Services (HPCS) 3.1 to 3.4Application Closing Date: 16 January 2025About the Role: Indigenous Tobacco Action Worker LeadWorking as part of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program, the Tobacco Action Officers Lead will oversee and coordinate the delivery of the smoking cessation support services and programs to Indigenous people in the Darwin Region, including clinic and outreach settings.
This role requires knowledge and expertise, with a minimum of 2 years of Tackling Indigenous Smoking program experience, particularly in working with clients with chronic health conditions prevalent among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The role will contribute to the delivery of the smoking and other Deadly Choices healthy lifestyle modules in school, academy, bush camp, and other settings to young Indigenous people, as well as school and community event-based health promotion and education activities.
What You Need to SucceedProvide leadership and direction to the TIS team in smoking cessation, assisting other public health programs within Danila Dilba by supporting program information for Indigenous people.
Collaborate with the management team to establish and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.Participate in the delivery of health promotion activities at schools and community events.Participate in influencing smoke-free households, particularly in those where children reside.Assist the Communications team to deliver and develop tobacco control social marketing campaigns and communications.Influence and engage with the Tackling Indigenous Smoking National Best Practice Unit to ensure effective smoking control outcomes.Collect data in Communicare and Excel formats to inform the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program and quit smoking behaviours.Want to talk this job through some more?
