About the role
We are seeking an organised, proactive and detail-oriented person to join our People and Culture team as a Human Resources Assistant. You will be handling a wide range of human resources and administrative tasks, including maintaining and managing employee records and assisting with the recruitment and onboarding processes as well as contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organization.
What will you do?
Some of the duties include:

Schedule interviews and prepare new hire documents.
Ensure employee files are up-to-date and compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
Support the People & Culture department in creating a smooth and organized workflow.

Essential Criteria

Commitment to the purpose of ADRA, and to the achievement of our overall strategy and priorities with demonstration of our ADRA values and desired team culture lived out in all aspects of work practice.
Willingness to work within a Christian ethos with conduct that is respectful of the beliefs and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when in the workplace or otherwise representing ADRA Australia.
A related diploma/degree or least two years' experience in secretarial and administration work.
Attention to Detail – Demonstrated ability to accurately manage and maintain HR records, documents, and processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
Confidentiality and Integrity – A high level of discretion and integrity, with experience in handling sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills in interactions with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to relate well to people of various backgrounds and ages.
Organisational Skills – Proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain an organised workflow in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work under pressure.
Technical Proficiency – Proficient in HR software (e.g., SharePoint, Orange HRM) and Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.

Desirable Criteria

Proven ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures that are fit-for-purpose, and compliance with overarching protocols.
Evidence of a proactive approach to supporting HR operations, with a willingness to assist with a variety of tasks to contribute to the department's efficiency.
Prior experience working within non-profit or faith-based organizations, especially in a similar role.
