Solar Sailor Engineering and Distribution Pty Limited, also known as Ocius Technology, is a proud Australian owned company that designs, builds and supports autonomous Uncrewed Maritime Surface Vessels (USVs) that leverage unsupervised autonomy for the delivery of long endurance, multi-mission capability to our customers.
These USVs use the energy of the weather - sun, wind, and waves, to act as persistent monitoring and communications platforms.
We are embarking on an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.
The Function:
The Human Resource function is responsible for building workforce capability and capacity, driving desired culture, developing leaders, and managing change to ensure Ocius meets its strategic aspirations.
Specifically, the function is accountable for delivering Recruitment and Onboarding, Performance and Career, Talent Management, People Practices, Leadership Development, Separation, Remunerations Governance and Compliance, Learning and Leadership Development, and Change Management.
Overview
The role is accountable for overseeing, leading, and delivering contemporary people practices and HR services, working closely with the executive team and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. The role will report into the CEO and provide Human Resources advisory to the People and Remuneration committee.
Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Manager sits on the leadership team partnering to implement corporate initiatives in support of building a capable and high performing workforce. The HR Manager plays a vital role in developing people, managing change, and influencing behaviors that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents, and value of each individual.
The role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager with a background in employee relations to lead our people practices. This key leadership role will drive the development and implementation of HR strategies that promote a positive organisational culture, enhance employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Key focus areas include:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business objectives, focusing on employee relations, talent management, and organizational development.
Workplace Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for workplace relations, handling complex employee issues, grievances, and conflicts with sensitivity and professionalism.
Policy Development:
Create, review, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure they reflect best practices and compliance with applicable laws.
Employee Engagement:
Design and implement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention, fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
Talent Management:
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning processes to ensure Ocius continues to attract and retain top talent.
Organisational Development and Design:
Identify and implement cost effective development initiatives to build workforce capabilities from programs, mentorship, resources, and others.
Compliance:
Monitor and ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies, mitigating risks associated with employment practices.
The ideal person for the role
Is someone with an appreciation and experience in working in small to medium size enterprises with a complex and highly technical workplace undergoing significant change. The Human Resource Manager will demonstrate leadership, ability to influence to deliver outcomes, and possess strong time management.
This is a 360 role, so we are looking for someone who wants to roll up their sleeves to deliver the strategy and the administration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline from an Australian University.
Significant HR experience with a focus on workplace relations and employee engagement, preferably within an engineering organisation or an organisation with a highly specialised workforce.
In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations, as well as best practices in employee relations.
Strong leadership and organisational skills, with a proven ability to influence and drive change.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships at all levels.
Experience in handling sensitive employee issues.
Proficient in HRIS systems and data analysis tools.

Given the sensitive nature of our work and the sector in which we operate, candidates for this role must be Australian citizens and possess, or be eligible to obtain, an NV1 security clearance.
