Our Opportunity With projects in advance planning or commencing construction, we are seeking an experienced HSE Lead to play a leading role as we move to the next stage.
The HSE Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance of ATCO's construction activities for the successful delivery of power stations and power generation projects for the Projects Delivery function. This role will lead the implementation of HSE policies and procedures on-site, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role involves collaboration with site management, interface with contractors, and workers to ensure that safety is embedded in all construction activities. The role will require regular travel to regional South Australia.
What the Role can Offer You Competitive remuneration including bonus structure.A supportive and flexible environment that values your well-being and personal growth.An opportunity to enhance your civil, power, and or large-scale infrastructure background and pivot into New Energy Solutions.Contributing to the design and delivery of a large-scale power generation facility in regional South Australia.Access ongoing training, mentorship, and individual development opportunities.What Does Success Look Like Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on the construction site, in accordance with Australian standards and ATCO's internal policies.Conduct regular risk assessments and develop control measures to minimize HSE risks associated with construction activities.Perform routine site inspections, audits, and hazard identification to ensure all safety protocols are followed.Lead the investigation of all HSE-related incidents on-site, ensuring accurate reporting and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Develop and deliver training & induction programs to raise HSE awareness among site personnel and ensure they are equipped to work safely.Work closely with contractors to ensure that HSE requirements are understood and enforced throughout the construction phase. Attend prestart and toolbox meetings.Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory bodies and ensure all permits, licenses, and certificates are up to date.Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring that site personnel are trained and prepared for potential emergencies.Exposure & Experience WHS Certificate IV (or higher) or degree qualified in occupational health and safety.General Construction White Card.Extensive experience in HSE leadership within the construction industry, with a proven track record of managing HSE compliance on large-scale infrastructure projects.Strong knowledge of Australian HSE laws, regulations, and standards, particularly in relation to construction activities.Demonstrated ability to manage HSE risks in a high-risk construction environment, including the development and implementation of safety management plans.Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and HSE audits.Proven ability to lead HSE training and influence positive safety behaviours on-site.At ATCO Australia, we are committed to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment that values the contributions and perspectives of everyone on the ATCO Australia team.
