We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, professional Pharmacist to join our Clinical Services team in a fixed-term or permanent position on a full-time or part-time basis.
We welcome pharmacists with previous hospital experience and other Pharmacists looking for a chance to build clinical pharmacy skills and experience. On-the-job training will be provided to support your transition into hospital pharmacy.
Mater Health Services, South East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Mater Pharmacy provides a clinical service to all inpatient areas and some outpatient clinics, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.
This is a rotational position working across the pharmacy dispensary as well as inpatient wards of our South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland campuses. You will work closely with hospital staff and patients to deliver a consistently high level of clinical pharmacy service by providing customers, patients, carers and other health professionals with support and information relating to medication and medication safety practices. This includes but is not limited to:
Compiling and documenting best possible medication history for hospital inpatientsReconciliation and clinical review of prescribed medicationsManaging supply of inpatient and discharge medications for hospital patients and some outpatientsPreparation of discharge medication and discharge medication informationChecking prepared medications prior to delivery to wards and patientsMedication education and counselling for patients and their carersLiaison with external facilities and community health care providers to ensure continuity of care for individual patientsProviding medication-related information, advice and support to the multidisciplinary team.You will be working across public and private inpatient areas including general medical, surgical and obstetric wards as well as the inpatient dispensary which manages medication distribution and services procedural areas, Hospital in the Home and the Mater Infusion Clinic. Depending on your experience and interest, opportunities exist to develop clinical pharmacy skills and expertise within a range of clinical specialties:
obstetrics and gynaecologyspecial care and neonatal intensive carepaediatrics and adolescent healthoncology and haematologycoronary care and interventional cardiologyThe central dispensary also provides an extended hours service for all our hospitals so the role will require you to be available to work weekdays as well as sharing the evening, public holiday, weekend and on-call rosters.

About you To be considered for this role you must have:
Bachelor of PharmacyAHPRA registration to practice as a Pharmacist (without restrictions)Prior demonstrated experience in ward-based clinical pharmacy will be highly regardedThe flexibility to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and on-call (with training) will be highly regardedThe ability to work at all Mater Hospital locations including South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield will be highly regardedYou will also demonstrate a professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detailMater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
