About the Role: The Head of Technical Operations is a pivotal role that provides strategic leadership and operational management across Infrastructure maintenance engineering, fault centre management, technical systems management, and contracts management. This role is essential for optimising the performance, reliability, and availability of our rail assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering high-quality service to our customers.
As the Head of Technical Operations, you will:
Lead and inspire: Guide a team of technical professionals, fostering excellence, collaboration, and innovation.Operational management: Oversee fault centre activities, technical systems, and infrastructure maintenance to ensure compliance and high performance.Contracts management: Establish and maintain effective contracts management processes, ensuring timely execution and vendor performance.Stakeholder collaboration: Work with key stakeholders, including VicTrack and Public Transport Victoria (PTV), to align technical operations with strategic objectives and regulatory standards.Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology advancements and industry best practices.Performance monitoring: Develop and monitor KPIs to assess and improve technical operations.Budget management: Manage the departmental budget to ensure efficient resource utilisation and alignment with organisational goals.Industry representation: Represent V/Line in industry forums and collaborative initiatives to drive innovation and knowledge-sharing.About You: You are a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. You can inspire and motivate a diverse team, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our rail assets.
