The Cathedral School located in Townsville, North Queensland is the only Independent Anglican School for boys and girls from Early Childhood to Year 12. The school is set adjacent to a lagoon and lush tropical raintrees, creating a wonderful canvas to inspire learning and creativity. We 'educate for life-long success' and know that this requires a well-rounded education and a focus on developing the 'whole person' by nurturing the body and spirit as well as the mind.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic Head of Rowing to lead our rowing program. To be successful within the role we are looking for someone who:
Is an effective communicator with all stakeholders. Loves rowing and actively promotes and encourages an interest in the sport. Is an energetic leader with a friendly, outgoing disposition. Values diversity and inclusion. Provides opportunities for rowers at all levels to excel. The Head of Rowing position is a permanent full-time position responsible for the oversight and management of the School's rowing program including:
Proactively developing, implementing, and maintaining a rowing strategic plan to promote and encourage interest in the sport. Maintaining a program that provides rowers at all levels with the opportunity to excel. Ensuring that our high-performing rowers reach their potential. Creating strong training programs both on and off water. Creating mentoring programs to continually develop and expand our coaching capability. Working with the school's rowing support staff and assistant coaches. Ensuring clear and effective communication with all stakeholders involved in the rowing program. Managing and mitigating risk within the rowing program, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all. The position oversees the rowing program providing Learn to Row sessions for Year 7 and 8 students and a formal competitive inter-school program for Years 7 to 12 between April to August each year. From October to March, the role focuses on preparing our senior rowers for the Australian Championships.
Included in the remuneration package is a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, skills, and experience, a motor vehicle and phone allowance. There is also the option for residential accommodation on the school's premises.
