Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Head of Legal is a key senior member of the Legal and Risk & Compliance team. This role focusses on providing financial services advice, taking the legal lead on compliance and regulatory projects, providing medium to highly complex specialist legal advice and support to all areas of the business, and management of the Legal function.
Responsibilities for the role include: Representing Indue by negotiating contracts and contractual terms in accordance with risk management frameworks;Investigating, analysing and evaluating commercial and operational issues from legal, contract and risk perspectives and making recommendations to senior management on risk mitigation;Remaining abreast of legal and regulatory developments applicable to Indue's activities and providing advice to the business about these changes;Assisting in new product development and having final oversight of contracts for new products;Supporting the Risk Function to ensure the company has sound governance, risk and oversight policies and programmes in place; andLeadership of a small Legal department.About You
You will have all or majority of the following skills and attributes: [List skills and attributes required by the successful candidate:]
Degree in Law with unrestricted practising certificate.Minimum 6 plus years' experience within a similar position.Experience in the banking and finance industry with in-depth experience and understanding of ASIC, APRA and AUSTRAC.Experience on drafting and negotiating complex IT, banking facilities and software contracts.Demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to develop and drive the implementation of the legal and risk management framework that effectively balances risk with reward relative to the business strategy.Previous managerial experience.Sounds like you?
