Our Client Hooker & Heijden are proud to have been exclusively appointed to represent an ambitious brokerage in their search to secure an exceptional and respected insurance broking professional, to be appointed as their Head of Growth. With strengths in SME, Mid-Market and Specialty Segments, this brokerage has experienced phenomenal growth over the past few years, doubling GWP under management and expanding their presence to include most Australian States. The successful applicant will join the flagship branch of this business with an ambitious and collaborative culture.
The Role This is a key role within the Victorian Branch and the business nationally, responsible for the execution of growth strategy and delivery of growth goals. You will work closely with the CEO; this is a hands-on role, in market role responsible for closing company generated leads plus sourcing, nurturing, and closing prospects of your own. As the successful applicant you will:
Be responsible for new client acquisition.Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver the best possible outcome for clients with a focus on revenue generation through New Business and the delivery of the full range of our client's capabilities.Maintain strategic relationships with insurance carrier partners in all key markets and successfully negotiate appropriate risk transfer and placement solutions based on individual client risk profile.Manage the transition of new business to the servicing team, whilst remaining available for the client should they require assistance during and after the on-boarding process.Take a "national" view, representing the key voice with regard to business development.Participate in networking opportunities at industry events in Victoria to raise awareness of our client's brand and capabilities.Engage with the servicing team to ensure provision of excellent service to clients and the highest quality input to insurers including quoting renewals, processing of endorsements/amendments, preparing correspondence between our clients and underwriters, updating reports, premium calculations, and allocations where required at the client's direction.Be able to step in and influence insurers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure a successful client outcome.Skills and Experience that will lead to success Strong technical understanding of general insurance.Ideally, several years (10+) leadership experience and confident in supporting a culture of accountability, ownership, and transparency.A keen entrepreneurial spirit and flair for business development with excellent cross-selling abilities.Highly self-motivated to take ownership and accountability for development and execution of relationships at a senior level.Excellent market management relationships in the market already, including both Insurers, Underwriting Agencies and ideally, Lloyds and London markets.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Team Player who works well with others, in support of a national focus on the General lines of business.Post Graduate/Diploma or Degree in Bus/Finance/Commerce plus qualifications in accordance with the Financial Services Reform Act (minimum Tier 1 Broking Compliance) would be expected; individuals from an underwriting background would be welcome to apply.Next Steps Hooker & Heijden undertake a thorough recruitment process on behalf of our clients and candidates.
