Job Purpose This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing company that continues to take market share. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and ambitious finance professional, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The role will lead a team of three, with dotted line reports from the management accounting team. Reporting directly to the FD, this role takes ownership of the Financial Control and Governance functions for all 6 legal entities. You will be a key member of the senior management team with exposure to the wider Dnata group accounting team. Key objectives Oversee the day-to-day finance functions covering accounting, statutory reporting, treasury, invoicing, internal control, audit, taxes and insurance. Drive month end and year end process (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow) ensuring all deadlines are consistently met. Implement and drive process change and automation, identifying technologies and policies to ensure effective business management. · Keep up to date with new regulations & policies. This role will be the key point of contact for all technical accounting matters. Specific objectives Reporting · Supporting Head of FP&A in the preparation, review and delivery of monthly and quarterly management accounts, Group reporting and Board packs. · Drive process improvement across the team, including the development and optimisation of our accounting/consolidation system. Compliance · Ensure En Route has processes in place to ensure all transactions are HMRC audit ready and there are supporting policies in place. · Coordinate, manage and support the all audit processes (internal, external, HMRC), liaising with external advisors to ensure accounts are filed on time (deadline 30th June 2024). · Plan and deliver a statutory year end timetable including high quality, easy to understand audit documentation, reviews and supporting processes to ensure a seamless audit review by the external auditors. · Tax- responsible for all tax advice and reporting to HMRC and other tax authorities. Review and sign off on Corporation tax, VAT (quarterly returns), GST, transfer pricing and payroll taxes. · Lead in preparation of the Group's statutory accounts- note stats are due to be filed 3 months after year end- i.e. 30th June 2024. · Developing and implementing accounting policies. Risk · Define and implement a company-wide risk framework. · Proactively manage the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, reporting and management of current and future risks impacting the business, and document in the risk register. · Analysing and highlighting to the SLT the potential risks arising from changes in legislation, regulation, business practice or company circumstances. · Leading and supervising the team, agreeing and documenting Professional Development Plans (PDP's) for all staff, to be reviewed and signed off by the FD. · Maintaining and updating the compliance policies and procedures and ensuring that they are consistent with the Group standards and regulatory requirements. · Maintaining effective relationship with the regulatory bodies and ensuring that all notification and reporting requirements are met. · Raising the risk awareness of staff and educating them on potential risks and the techniques used to mitigate them (e.g. delivering easy to understand "lunch and learns" about risk and risk management' moving to risk workshops when appropriate). · Design, document and implement an appropriate whistleblower process. · Ensuring that an anti-money laundering culture within the company is maintained via regular education of all staff. · Carrying out risk assessment of new business proposals and making recommendations to accept or refuse them. · Managing delivery of specific risk and compliance projects as required. · Documenting and reviewing end to end finance process and controls to reduce risk and allow for continuity, initially focussing on P2P and O2C process documentation and improvement. · Ensuring adequate controls are in place and maintained at all times (i.e. suitable to be able to pass a controls audit), along with ensuring the controls matrix is also up to date at all time. · Responsible for implementing and monitoring of segregation of duty controls in all business systems. People · Coaching and supporting the finance team. Leading on professional development and performance optimisation (people, systems, processes) and talent and succession planning. · Leading on Finance training for non Finance staff. · Key point of contact for Group relationships, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the Group. · Cultivating professional relationships with banks, suppliers, auditors, advisors and governmental bodies. Banking · Responsible for reviewing account types, managing foreign currency and FX differences. · Control and issue corporate credit cards. · Responsible for setting up direct debits, bank mandate control and access to portals. Ad Hoc · Support on any M&A activity. · Support on wider finance projects and process improvements. · Support FD in ad hoc reporting when required. Knowledge base · Financial control, governance and risk management experience. Someone who knows what best practice looks like and can drive and implement change within the business. · Extensive experience in and strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, statutory consolidation process, legislation and audit. · Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards. · Previous P&L ownership of a complex, multi-site business. · Ability to exercise a sound decision-making, a proactive initiative-taking approach and the promotion of a change and continuous improvement culture. · Experience working with scale-up or fast-growing business is desirable. · Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years PQE. · Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. · Proficiency in financial software and tools. · Strong commercial acumen and ability to provide insight into financial data. · Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. · Experience managing teams, with confident ability to coach and mentor. · Ability to influence and challenge, with experience of being able to manage up and down within a challenging environment. · Comfortable presenting to groups and facilitating workshops with a wide range of people/ skills/grades to work towards the agreed objective. · Organised and detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment, manage competing priorities and deliver on tight deadlines. · Experience working in an ERP environment, writing finance policies and procedures and analysing and documenting user requirements for reports and systems changes. · Comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment over different time zones. · Must be available for occasional long-haul travel.
