The Head of Corporate Affairs will play a crucial role in building the University's reputation and image through effective communication and engagement programs with stakeholders from industry, government, and community, and manage a committed and passionate team.
You will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of a comprehensive corporate communication strategy to promote UQ's mission, achievements, and major initiatives. These can range from research that is solving global challenges and educational opportunities building a more equitable and inclusive society to multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects.
You will be the 2IC to the Director Communication, part of Marketing and Communication's leadership team, and work directly with senior executives across the University.
About YouThe ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in communication and corporate affairs roles, demonstrating the ability to lead and execute integrated corporate communication strategies that align with an organisation's priorities. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential, as is extensive experience in proactively managing reputational issues and mitigating risks.
In addition, you will be adept at problem-solving under tight deadlines, ensuring high-quality work and sound strategic advice. Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and advisory skills are crucial, particularly in collaborating with senior leaders to gain support for new initiatives and approaches. A willingness to provide flexible support, including after-hours and weekends as needed, will be required from time to time, to ensure seamless operations and responsiveness in critical situations.
