We are seeking a skilled, hands-on leader to manage our newly created in-house workshop. As the Head Diesel Mechanic, this position is suited to a self-starter who thrives on maintenance and repairs of diesel heavy vehicles, trailers and machinery while taking ownership of a growing workshop environment.
About the Opportunity Reporting to the General Manager, you will manage day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity and safety standards. More specifically, you will:
Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and agricultural machinery.Develop and implement processes to optimise workshop performance and maintain compliance with safety standards.Service and maintain tyres, including fitting, balancing, and repairs, while diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues across engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and brakes.Supervise and mentor workshop staff or apprentices, fostering skill development and professional growth.Oversee inventory management, ensuring tools, spare parts, and consumables are adequately stocked.Collaborate with management to plan and execute strategies for workshop growth, including expanding capabilities and capacity.Coordinate and organise jobs in a timely manner, ensuring high quality service and satisfaction.About You To be successful in this rewarding role, you will demonstrate alignment with our core values of safety, support, integrity, reliability and community focus.
