Applications are invited for two (2) temporary Guidance Officer positions as part of the Student Support and Engagement Team in Metropolitan North Region.

One position will align with Years P - 4 and one position will align with Years 5 - 9. These are offered on a full-time temporary basis, from 08 July 2024 until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role The successful applicants will contribute to the priority measures identified in the Equity and Excellence strategy with a particular focus on supporting maximising learning for every student. These contributions will occur as part of a broader multi-disciplinary team aligned with Prep to Year 4 or Years 5 - 9.
As the Guidance Officer within the Student Support and Engagement Team, your role will include (but not be limited to):
Using a strengths-based approach when working students, families and school staff to assist students who have experienced, or are at-risk of, student disciplinary absences;Providing expertise and guidance in developing appropriate intervention and supports for young students with complex needs which may include - conducting psychoeducational assessments, FBA support, IBSP, ISSP planning and risk assessment;Assisting schools to understand the educational implications for students with mental health and significant behavioural difficulties;Thorough understanding of student engagement considering all aspects of inclusive, safe and supportive environments for all students including those with a disability.Thorough understating of highly individualised programs delivered by a multidisciplinary team of classroom teachers and support staff that consider the student's unique learning needs and preferencesPlease refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
