About The Role We have an exciting and rare opportunity to join Whitehaven Coal as our Group Manager – Water.
This key role is accountable for developing and implementing a water strategy for all operating and future project mine sites and the management of water licences and approvals, through safe and effective management of technical, financial and human resources.
We are open to location for this role across any of our corporate offices in NSW or QLD and you will be required to attend regular visits to all our operational mine sites.
In this role, you will have a team of 2 direct reports to support the overall water strategy.
What You'll Do Engage and enable key customers by providing deep functional knowledge, coaching and mentoring in the application of water management with potential to impact WHC strategic outcomes.Development and implementation of a WHC Group water strategy standards and targets.Governance of Water Access Licence (WAL) and iWAS account management and compliance.Governance over hydraulic and hydrological modelling including water balance models, flood studies, and groundwater models used for operations, compliance, and approvals.Contribute to the development of WHC HSE 5-year plan ensuring there is clear integration with water management outcomes and the WHC HSE Strategy.What You'll Bring Tertiary qualifications in Science, Environmental Science, Applied Science, Environmental Engineering or other suitable qualification.Postgraduate qualifications in water management (desirable).Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining or a similar industry at a site level including site operations.Experience with QLD and/or NSW regulatory environments.Familiarity and working knowledge of water modelling software and hydrologic and hydraulic processes.Excellent skills in project management and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.Why Whitehaven Coal Industry leading 26 Weeks Parental Leave.$4k for successful referrals.Learning and skills development through study assistance and leadership training.Awards and recognition through our STRIVE initiative.If you are looking to join a values-driven organisation with excellent career growth and opportunities, then we want to hear from you!
