As a privately-owned business with deep roots in Western Sydney, we are proud of our growth, managing catering for over 20 major events and 16 venues.
Our team consists of approximately 200 full-time staff and over 7,000 casual employees, all working towards one goal—delivering excellence every time.Role OverviewThe Group Human Resources Manager will report directly to the Head of People and Culture.
This role will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the HR strategy that supports Gema's growth and operational objectives.
You will manage the end-to-end HR function across multiple sites and projects, ensuring that Gema continues to attract, retain, and develop top talent while maintaining compliance with all relevant employment and IR laws.
This role offers the opportunity to drive meaningful change, build a high-performance culture, and make a significant impact on the company's success.Key ResponsibilitiesHR Leadership: Oversee all HR operations across Gema's various divisions, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.Talent Acquisition & Retention: Develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies to attract top talent for our fulltime team.
Lead initiatives focused on employee retention, engagement, and development, ensuring Gema Group remains an employer of choice.Employee Relations & Compliance: Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with Australian employment laws and IR regulations.
Proactively manage and resolve workplace conflicts, and ensure fairness and consistency in all HR processes.HR Policies & Systems: Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures in line with legal and industry best practices.
Lead HR system improvements to streamline operations and ensure accurate HR data management.Performance Management & Development: Implement and manage performance appraisal systems that drive employee growth, engagement, and productivity.
Support managers in developing their teams and handling performance-related matters.Workplace Culture & Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, and innovation.
Lead initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and engagement, and improve retention rates.Training & Development: Identify training needs and create development programs to build capability across all levels of the organization.
Lead initiatives that promote career growth and employee well-being.What We're Looking ForQualifications: Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field.
Postgraduate qualifications or certifications (e.g., AHRI) are highly regarded.HR Expertise: A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a senior HR role, ideally within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Experience in hospitality, events, or related industries is a plus.IR & Employment Law Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and IR regulations, with a proven ability to manage compliance and complex employee relations issues.Talent Acquisition & Retention: Demonstrated success in leading recruitment and retention strategies, with the ability to manage large-scale permanent workforces.Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
