About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the St Vincent's Pathology team in the Biochemistry Department.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Chromatography section.
Classifications for this position range from RY9 to RZ3 ($106,688- $121,477 per annum).
Duties include:
Provide supervision to the Chromatography section of the Biochemistry Laboratory and ensure that service delivery is of high quality standards.
Ensure analytical performance is of appropriate accuracy and precision.
Support staff training and competency so that staff are capable of performing their duties to high quality standards.
Ensure procedures and documentation are up to date, accurate, and comply with quality standard recommendations and accreditation requirements.
Monitor internal QC and external QAP performance, and support appropriate and timely troubleshooting and corrective action.
Perform method development and implement new assays.
Assist in implementation of HPLC MS/MS.
Your Contribution
A Bachelor's degree in science or applied science or equivalent.
Higher qualifications such as M.Sc.
or MAACB are desirable.
High level knowledge in the area of clinical and laboratory Chemical Pathology.
At least 7 years relevant medical laboratory experience in a tertiary hospital or private pathology laboratory.
High level of experience in mass spectrometry and assay development is desirable.
Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain.

About the Department
St Vincent's Pathology provides a broad range of pathology services to a number of teaching hospitals, private hospitals, and community specialists and general practitioners.
The Biochemistry Department is a major section of St Vincent's Pathology and performs a wide range of general and specialised biochemical analyses.
These include automated chemistry and immunochemistry, blood gases, protein electrophoresis, chromatography, specific IgE assays, immunosuppressants, breath testing and autoimmune serology.
The department is closely integrated with St Vincent's Pathology Point of Care Testing (POCT) services and is the pathology centre for co-ordination of Clinical Trials and Contract Testing.
