With a deep commitment to delivering sustainable investment returns and providing annual financial dividends to Brisbane City Council to fund urban landscape improvement initiatives, CBIC offers an opportunity to work with an organisation truly making a difference.An opportunity exists for a Governance, Risk, and Compliance professional to lead these critical functions as well as providing company secretariat duties to the Board of Directors and its committees, ensuring compliance with legislative and operational requirements, and maintaining various management frameworks.Key Responsibilities include:Company Secretariat:Support Board and Committee meetings, including setting agendas, collating papers, recording minutes, and following up on action items.Maintain CBIC's registered office/ASIC register and improve management and Board reporting, particularly concerning risk and compliance.Governance Management Function:Maintain and update CBIC policies, frameworks, procedures, and registers, developing these where required.Provide advice and assistance on corporate governance issues.Develop and implement appropriate governance structures and provide training to CBIC employees regarding policy requirements.Handle other governance matters as required by the CEO or Directors.Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit:Develop and manage the Risk Management Framework and conduct risk assessments.Ensure necessary systems are in place for appropriate risk management.Maintain strategic and operational risk registers and coordinate regular risk reports to the Board and Committees.Promote the Compliance Policy and ensure CBIC meets its obligations.Document legislative changes and update processes and reporting accordingly.Maintain compliance obligations register and prepare reports for the Board.Provide compliance advice and training to the Board and Management.Review and maintain relevant contract management, Workplace Health and Safety, Business Continuity and Information Security Management frameworks and monitor their performance and provide training and awareness for these functional areas.Assist the Head of Finance with coordinating the Internal Audit function and developing recommendations from the Internal Auditor.To be successful you will have experience across the majority of these functions gained in an advisory or internal function.
The role will ideally suit a candidate looking to step up and own these functions.
We are also open to a more experienced candidate looking to take on a more hands-on role, with part-time negotiable.
You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications and additional governance qualifications will be well regarded.At CBIC, you will be part of a dynamic team led by the CEO and an independent professional board.
