Bridge Knowledge is looking for a General Manager to steer the company towards its ambitious growth targets and operational excellence. About the Business Bridge Knowledge was established in 2015 as a structural and civil engineering consultancy dedicated to creating safe, functional, and resilient infrastructure. As an Australian-owned company, we are committed to serving regional communities across Australia, with offices strategically located in Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Lismore.
Our team comprises highly skilled engineers, designers, and technical experts who bring extensive experience across various disciplines. We offer comprehensive consulting engineering services, including road, bridge, and structural engineering, as well as residential and commercial building projects, land development, and flood studies.
With a strong track record, we have successfully partnered with over fifty local councils in regional NSW and multiple state governments and departments to deliver hundreds of impactful regional projects.
About You The successful candidate will be a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the structural and civil engineering industry or a closely related field. You are a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving business growth and operational excellence through high standards for systems and processes. Your leadership style is collaborative, and you walk your talk when it comes to fostering an inclusive, positive team culture while ensuring accountability. You are genuine, being adaptable, resilient, and passionate about regional Australia, with a strong commitment to community engagement.

Your New Role As the General Manager, you will lead Bridge Knowledge towards achieving its mission of becoming the preeminent multi-disciplinarycivil engineering consultancy in regional NSW by 2030. You will oversee all aspects of the business, from financial management to strategic planning, ensuring operational efficiency and driving business development.

Key Areas of Responsibility 1. Financial Stewardship

Purpose: Ensure financial stability and growth through effective resource management and profitability.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor cash flow and financial health, achieving EBITDA targets.
Manage financial risks and develop contingency plans.
2. Strategic Management

Purpose: Develop and execute business strategies that align with the company's long-term goals.

Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities and service offerings.
Ensure alignment between daily operations and long-term strategy.
3. Business Optimisation

Purpose: Enhance operational efficiency through process improvements and system integration.

Oversee daily operations, ensuring project delivery within budget and standards.
Ensure business risks are managed with appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Ensure effective governance and systems for project management while maintaining organisational flexibility and agility.
4. Team Management

Purpose: Build and lead a high-performing leadership team that aligns with company values.

Develop and coach the leadership team, ensuring accountability and professional growth.
Oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and training.
Foster a positive, inclusive culture and be the custodian of our values and mission
5. Business Development

Purpose: Drive business growth through client relationships and market expansion.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
Lead business development initiatives and pursue acquisition opportunities.
Represent the company in industry networking and marketing efforts.
6. Strategic Workforce Planning

Purpose: Ensure the company has the right talent and leadership for future growth.

Implement and champion leadership development and succession planning.
Manage workforce planning to meet current and future business needs.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Requirements Extensive experience in structural and civil engineering or a closely related field.

Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and financial planning.

Proven track record in strategic planning, pursuing new business opportunities to ensure future pipeline.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Experience with process improvement and system integration.

Experience with leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to community engagement and regional development.
