About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role The General Manager, Regulator and Group Operations supports CAV to meet its strategic directions through the coordination and delivery of a range of corporate, governance and other support functions. The General Manager is responsible for leading approximately 15 FTE across three teams; Strategy and Resources; Planning, Reporting and Executive Services and Digital Information and Services. In addition, the team coordinates and works closely with the DGS Communications branch, which delivers CAV's media, communications and website functions as well as the DGS corporate support functions, including Finance, Technology, People & Culture and Accommodation. The General Manager, Regulator and Group Operations reports to the Director, Services and Engagement and is an important member of the CAV senior management group.
Key accountabilities include Lead the Regulator and Group Operations team to deliver high-quality, accessible and inclusive services and effective corporate, governance and digital information functions, fostered by a respectful, inclusive, safe and productive workplace and work culture.Proactively build and maintain relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including across CAV and DGS, other government agencies and local community agencies and stakeholders, to contribute to positive outcomes for Victorians and build community trust in the regulator.Oversee staff learning and development and assist in providing effective performance management, workforce planning and recruitment. Work to build the capabilities and confidence of staff; identify and capitalise on the diversity of staff thinking, backgrounds and prior experience.About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Demonstrated experience working across corporate and/or governance functions in government.Proven people management skills, including demonstrated ability to build effective high performing teams, to successfully lead change and to deal responsively, practically and creatively with complex people issues.Strong project management, planning and organisational skills, including the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a busy work environment.High-level communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with colleagues and work collaboratively with others towards positive outcomes.A commitment to the VPS values and CAV objectives, including to consciously build Aboriginal cultural awareness, competency and safety and accessible and inclusive services for all.For specific responsibilities please review the attached position description.

Other requirements A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience is desirable.
