We are seeking a General Manager - Government Relations. This senior role will lead and execute the company's strategic engagement with government and regulatory bodies, ensuring that our policy priorities are effectively communicated and addressed at the federal, state and local levels. You will oversee all aspects of government relations, public policy advocacy and policy development in Australia. The role requires a high level of political acumen, exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
Role Functions Develop and implement ATCO's government engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and integration with the company's broader external stakeholder engagement strategy to achieve positive policy outcomes.Lead the execution of the government engagement strategy by creating a forward-looking plan and coordinating with internal teams to maximize impact and alignment across initiatives.Represent the company at government meetings, conferences and events, advocating for positions that align with company interests.Synthetise the strategic insights from regulatory developments and formulating appropriate advocacy responses.Oversee the evaluation of the success of engagement plans, providing analysis and feedback to refine strategies and optimise future efforts.Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key government stakeholders to support ATCO's objectives and policy interests.Provide expert advice to senior leadership on political and policy matters, ensuring that the company's strategy remains adaptable to changing government priorities.Oversee the preparation of submissions to government inquiries, consultations and other public policy processes.Exposure & Experience Qualifications A bachelor's degree in law, economics, communications, commerce, or other related disciplineBackground Proven experience in government relations, public policy, or advocacy, ideally within a corporate or industry context.Demonstrated success in influencing and building relationships with senior political figures, government officials, and external stakeholders.Strong strategic thinking and the ability to turn complex policy issues into actionable business strategies.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in writing submissions, reports, and policy documents.Why ATCO Australia?
