About the role Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the First Response & HS Support Officer will respond to and manage site-based incidents involving injuries to workers, maintain the First Aid room and equipment and undertake administrative responsibilities in relation to reporting and records management.
About You You will ideally have previous experience and skills in health and injury management, return to work processes and at times, be able to operate independently of direct supervision.
As a primary function, you will need to be approachable, have a consultative approach and be able to deliver frontline health and first aid care to a site-based workforce.
To be successful in this role you will be flexible in your approach to meet business needs, display initiative and the right attitude to drive improvement.
You will possess a caring nature, a people focus and strong reasoning, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Registered nurses, Paramedics or allied health professionals looking for a change, are encouraged to apply!Experience in a similar role of First Response First Aider, Health Care or Emergency ServicesExperience in the mining/heavy industries is desirable but not essentialPreferably HLTSS00068 – Occupational First Aid Skill Set or Certificate IV Health Care or higherPUAEME008 Provide pain-managementHLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (or other D&A testing certification)Class A (essential) and MR/HR licence/s (desirable only)Experience with software programs including site access / training databases.Experience in identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvementAbility to influence, coach and mentorExcellent administrative and record keeping skillsExcellent interpersonal, cooperative and facilitation skills as part of interfacing with various levels of management and external bodies and agenciesKey responsibilities include: Maintenance of site First Aid Room and equipment (including medical stock)Responding to site-based incidents involving injury to a worker and making arrangements for transfer of injured workers off site, where deemed appropriateProviding first response medical assessment and treatmentDevelopment of site health and injury related plans e.g.
Medical Management Plans and Suitable Duties PlansReviewing relevant instructions/ procedures as requiredComplete and participate in incident investigations where requiredProvide advice on the management of non-work-related injuries and illnessesComplete and participate in workplace inspections where requiredConduct random Drug and Alcohol Testing on site and manage breathalyser equipmentPromotion of various site health initiativesAssessment and coordination of the treatment of injuries and illnesses on site, including but not limited to the Early Intervention Program (referrals to Physiotherapist and other allied health professionals)Maintenance of accurate injury reports and treatment recordsGeneral Health, Safety and Training functions aligned with maintaining operational safety requirementsAssisting with compilation of evidence and ICAM preparation (in the initial instance) for operational site leadersFitzroy Benefits for you!
