Public Sector People (PSP) are seeking an experienced Community Safety Officer (Field Officer) who would be interested in a 2-month temporary contract situated at a council on Melbourne's peri urban fringe.
Location: Melbourne's Peri-Urban Fringe Duration: 2-Month Contract (Possible Extension) Start Date: ASAP Band 5 Role Description: We are seeking a Community Safety Officer to join the team for approximately 2 months, with the possibility of extension, to assist in animal management and Local Law enforcement.
You will promote compliance through education, mediation, and enforcement, addressing breaches of Acts, Regulations, Local Laws, and parking legislation.
Key Responsibilities: Administer and enforce Local Laws and relevant regulations with fairness and consistency.
Investigate complaints and address community concerns regarding local laws, particularly animal control.
Assist with impounding stray livestock and domestic animals.
Enforce the Domestic Animals Act, Impounding of Livestock Act, Road Safety Act, and Litter Act.
Assist with after-hours call-out services and maintain the local pound facilities.
Provide excellent customer service, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with Victoria Police, DELWP, and other agencies on enforcement matters.
Assist in emergency management and fire prevention programs.
Qualifications & Experience: Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance, Animal Welfare, or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of Local Laws and relevant legislation.
Experience in animal handling, including both domestic and farm animals.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and resolve issues calmly.
