About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead and manage the Finance Department to ensure the organisation's long-term financial sustainability. As the Financial Controller you will oversee comprehensive financial management accounting services including financial planning, budgeting, and control. You will also manage procurement, investments management, taxation, and rates and revenue operations, providing essential support to all departments in Council.
Your leadership will be key in driving sound financial practices that contribute to the overall success and growth of the City of Ryde.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who can inspire and motivate teams to reach their full potential. You will have a proven ability to develop and implement robust financial systems, controls, and policies that align with accounting standards and relevant legislation. You will provide strategic advice on budget management, financial performance, and emerging issues, ensuring Council's resources are protected. Your expertise will enable you to identify and implement corrective actions to minimise risks and drive positive business outcomes.
In addition, you will also have:
Degree level qualification in a financial or accounting discipline
Member of CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia
Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Regulations, Code of Accounting Practice, other legislation and global & market conditions
Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally (Auditors, NSW Treasury, IPART etc.), and utilise effective influencing, consultation, communication and negotiation skills to achieve business outcomes
Experience in developing strategies, policies and internal controls
Extensive experience in developing and managing the preparation and analysis of complex financial information to support financial decision making
Your commencing annual salary circa $190,000 + Superannuation + Leaseback vehicle, dependent on your skills, experience and qualifications.
