An opportunity to join the team in Mount Isa is available for a number of experienced Field Service Technicians (Diesel Mechanic / Fitter). This role can also be FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville, or Cairns.
With one of these Field Service Technician positions, the opportunity to do FIFO project work in Papua New Guinea (PNG) may also be available, this will be on a 2:2 roster working 12-hour days.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing modifications and/or mechanical repairs on Normet and client underground machines.
What we offer: Permanent full-time position, offering job securityCompensation:$65 - $70 per hour + super for FIFO work in Mt Isa$85 - $90 per hour + super for potential FIFO project work in PNGFIFO from Brisbane, Townsville, or Cairns on a 2:2 roster (12 hrs per day)Accommodation and meals provided on siteOpportunity to work with BEVs and cutting-edge mining technologyAccess to local and global technology and training programsBattery Electric Vehicle training and industry insightsSupportive team culture and engaging work environmentAccess to My Normet Rewards Program with discounts to over 400 retailersEmployee Assistance Program, Rewards & Recognition, and Years of Service ProgramsWhat you will need to succeed: Certificate III Diesel Mechanic / Fitter or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years industry experienceExperience in modification and repairs of heavy mobile equipmentStrong mechanical knowledge and experience with a high level of problem-solving and diagnostic skillsAbility to read CAD engineer drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.Previous underground experience is highly desirableAbility to provide high-level technical advice to clients on-site as necessaryDrivers license is essential along with full working rights in Australia.The successful candidate must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a National Police Clearance before commencement. Key Responsibilities: Conducting on-site commissioning, servicing, and repairs of Normet and clients underground machines:
Modification and/or repair of vehicle systems including: chassis, drivelines, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricsManufacturing and fitting of electrical and mechanical componentsTesting and adjusting of all mechanical hydraulics, circuits, and pneumatic componentsFault finding, repairing, replacing, and providing technical adviceInspection, analysis, and recording critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment workAll work to be performed safely and at a level of quality acceptable to both Normet and customer expectation.At Normet we believe our employees are the heart and soul of our company, we aim to provide everyone with opportunities to reach their full potential, valuing the differences of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
