Every minute of every day, our technology and talented team members help to make the world a safer place.Job DescriptionThis is a field service engineering position, primarily based at Sydney Airport, responsible for maintaining and repairing Smiths Detection's X-ray and trace detection equipment using hand and power tools, as part of Smiths Detection's 24/7 rotating shift roster. This position requires face-to-face customer interaction and a high level of team orientation, with a proactive approach to seeking and sharing technical knowledge. The ability to work autonomously and across all of the allocated shift rotations/times are also essential requirements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Troubleshooting, servicing and repairing X-ray and trace detection equipmentProactively completing preventative maintenance tasks according to service contracts and schedulesResponding to equipment faults and other corrective maintenance requirements according to service contracts and key performance indicatorsTesting components and circuitry of X-ray equipment using a multimeter, computer/laptop and the inbuilt equipment softwareDiagnosing the root cause of mechanical, electrical and electronics related equipment faults (involving 24 volts or less)Replacing belts, rollers, motors and other mechanical components within X-ray equipmentReplacing and maneuvering X-ray sources (i.e., generators) and other heavy parts using lifting aidesOpening machines to inspect, vacuum, clean, de-grease, repair and replace internal partsInstalling new equipment, independently and alongside Smiths Detection's programs and installations teams and various subcontractors and customer stakeholdersCompleting field service related documentation and reportsCompleting technical, safety, compliance and other job related trainings, online and in-personMaintaining a clean/tidy work station and work environmentResponding to queries from customers, vendors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, verbally and in writing, in a timely and professional manner, independentlyConsuming spare parts from the warehouse/storage area and promptly updating the associated records in the IT software tracking systemJoining regular internal team meetings and safety briefingsEnsuring that tools and testing equipment is maintained and calibratedAnalysing field service data trends and recommending process and equipment improvementsContributing to continuous improvement projects and initiativesProviding training and support to new joiners and junior-level field service team membersLeading safe-work practices and ensuring the safety of junior-level field service team membersReporting and escalating day-to-day issues to more senior field service team members or management in a timely mannerOther duties as requiredThe IndividualSkills and Responsibilities:Certificate 3 Trade Qualification or Degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/IT)Provisional or unrestricted driver's licenseAbility to obtain security clearances and industry licensesBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteJoin us for a great career and competitive compensation & benefits whilst keeping the world a safer place.Diversity & Inclusion:We believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish.
