About the Role
The Field Operations Specialist will report to the Field Operations Lead, focusing on soil sample collection, processing, and ensuring field data quality. You will assist with daily scheduling, lead safety briefings, and oversee coring work, ensuring compliance with regulations.
In this role, you'll work with a team conducting remote field soil sampling across Australia, contributing to high-quality carbon projects for growers. You'll troubleshoot in the field, follow WHS protocols, and maintain high standards while working autonomously. The role also involves managing quality control processes, ensuring compliance, and overseeing sample logistics.
Responsibilities:
Conduct soil sampling in accordance with established methodologies and protocols for soil carbon analysis, soil science, and R&D practices. Ensure accurate collection and quality assurance of field data. Initiate quality control procedures. Support the coordination of teams and equipment. Lead safety briefings and communicate daily objectives and tasks to team members. Provide updates on daily field operations and maintain accurate records of team activities. Offer training and guidance to new team members while adhering to strict regulatory requirements. Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment, workspaces, vehicles, and consumables. Maintain and clean the field and plant sampling equipment, and reorganize equipment and consumables in preparation for upcoming sampling events. Requirements
Based in Orange, NSW , with the ability to travel across Australia. Attention to Detail: Strong commitment to integrity and meticulous attention to detail in all tasks. Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of troubleshooting and managing contingencies as they arise, adhering to Loam's standard operating procedures while maintaining high integrity while working unsupervised. Self-Starter: Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. WHS Knowledge: Deep understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations and the ability to work autonomously in remote locations. Willingness to Travel: Prepared to travel to remote locations nationally, and work on the road for extended periods. Physical Fitness: Physically fit and willing to perform labour-intensive tasks associated with soil sampling and production-oriented work. Flexibility: Open to working in various environments and settings. Safety Awareness: Committed to following Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and addressing any unsafe behaviors or procedures. Driving Skills: Possess a driver's license with confidence in off-road driving; trailer towing experience is preferred.
