Family Support Specialist - Domestic Violence
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across the Mount Isa region? We're looking for a dedicated professional to join the Mount Isa After Hours (MIAH) program, working in conjunction with the Queensland Police Service as part of our Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Support Service. In this varied and challenging role, you'll help give families the tools they need to navigate this tough time and thrive in the future.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
A place where your purpose matters. Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time permanent role, you'll work within a case management framework in an outreach role, providing support to individuals who are experiencing domestic, family or sexual violence. Based in Mount Isa, you'll work closely with the Queensland Police Service to provide an after-hours response.
Hours will be on a roster system and will be worked between 2pm and 10pm seven days a week (excluding public holidays), with potential to be on-call when required. Ideally, the role is full time (38 hours per week), though we're also open to candidates who would prefer casual or part-time work.
Please note: The role works partly at our Mount Isa office, and partly at the local police station (all evening hours and weekend hours are based at the station).
You will make a difference by:

Providing holistic case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients and supporting relationships.
Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard.
Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program and reviewing client progress towards these goals.
Promoting skills which increase health, safety and development.

A place to feel valued:
You're an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting families within a child centred, strengths-based framework. Importantly, you have a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families and you're keenly aware of the additional impacts and barriers experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
It is a genuine requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991.
Bringing your best every day means:

Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families.
Strong report writing, analytical and evaluation skills, including data collation and analysis.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service.

A place to belong:
54 reasons is proudly part of Save the Children Australia. We are a learning organisation that invests in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 1100 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.
It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

Award rate salary (Level 4.1 - $43.08 per hour) plus full salary packaging benefits.
Extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you're able to perform at your optimum.

Supportive Managers – we provide professional supervision training and monthly supervision sessions so you can feel supported and build a career at Save.
Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program.
