THE ROLE: We are currently seeking applications for the role of Family Support Officer.
The Family Support Officer will facilitate and provide comprehensive support to distance education students in the Bundaberg area. The role focuses on assisting students in overcoming barriers to learning, ensuring they achieve their full potential, and supporting their welfare and educational needs.
This is a full-time role (38 hours per week).
The Family Support Officer will be responsible for, but is not limited to, the following, as directed and provided by the Line Manager, Teacher or Coordinator:
Student Engagement and Welfare: Engage with students and parents to promote a positive and productive attitude toward education.Monitor and support student well-being and collaborate with families, community members and relevant staff to support educational outcomes.Administrative Duties: Collaborate with school staff to ensure the accurate maintenance and timely completion of student progress records, as well as the documentation of supports provided.As directed by the relevant school staff, perform administrative tasks related to Family Support services, including maintaining accurate record keeping of student progress records and supports provided.Ensure timely and accurate completion of all administrative tasks assigned by staff.Communication and Collaboration: Act as a professional representative of the school and serve as a liaison between students, parents, the school and other educational stakeholders, in a professional manner.Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.Tasks Development and Implementation: Collaborate with relevant school staff and assist with developing and implementing initiatives that support distance education students.Organise and lead activities planned by the teachers, aimed at increasing student engagement and success.Address and manage student crises or urgent issues, coordinating with the appropriate resources and stakeholders, as required.
BENEFITS: Flexibility - a flexible work arrangement is in view, as the incumbent of the role will be required to be available for emergency situations and planned after hours upgrades.We're committed to building a healthy workplace by offering a quality employee assistance program.Salary sacrifice available.Staff development, mentoring and training.REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE: Evidence of Australian Working Rights is essential.A current approved Blue Card (Working with Children Check) is essential before commencement of employment.Qualifications: A Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support and Certificate IV in Youth Work is highly regarded but is not essential.Prior experience in an educational environment is highly desirable.Experience, Skills and Personal Attributes: Proven knowledge and working experience in an educational support or youth work role.Experience in a school environment is highly regarded but is not essential.A commitment to support the ethos of a Christian School.Capability to deliver exceptional and impactful educational and welfare support to students.Exceptional administrative skills.Appropriate technical skills and ability to adapt to changing systems.Exceptional communication skills, with a strength in communicating with influence.
