The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Facility and Assets Control Systems Technician to provide a critical role within the Barwon Precinct.
About the Business Unit The Barwon Precinct was formed to drive efficiencies in service delivery across the 4 prisons located in Lara.
The Facility and Assets group managed $1.27 billion in physical assets and provides strategic asset management planning services additionally.
The Barwon Precinct consists of HM Prison Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre, and its Annexe Karreenga, Western Plains Correctional Centre, plus Statewide Services Centres and a State fire training centre.
About the Role The Control Systems Technician is a field-based role and as a minimum a Restricted Electrical Worker's licence (REL) holder, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising control systems critical to the operation of pumps, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), HVAC-R, and associated facility management systems.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of these systems to support seamless facility operations.
Key functions include the installation, calibration, and maintenance of sensors, actuators, and field devices, as well as diagnosing and resolving system faults.
The role also requires collaboration with stakeholders to implement system improvements and provide technical expertise.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, including the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation, combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
Some of your duties will include: * Perform inspections, maintenance, and fault diagnosis for pumps, Variable Speed Drives, HVAC-R, and related systems * Install, calibrate, monitor, and maintain sensors, actuators, and field devices * Provide technical support and collaborate with stakeholders for system improvements * Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance * Respond promptly to emergencies to minimise downtime * Assist other trades and maintenance personnel in delivering maintenance works * Being rostered within the on call out of hours / emergency response To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.
