The College operates using an F-9 Sub school model. The role will see the successful applicant drive, in an unrelenting manner, achievement of the goals and targets in the College Strategic Plan with outstanding student achievement through the use of evidence-based, high impact teaching strategies.
Officially opened in 2015, Truganina College is located within the City of Wyndham on the corner of Clearwood and Brigalow Drives, Truganina, MEL 203 B3. The area is believed to be named after Truganini, a full-blooded Aboriginal Tasmanian woman who spent a short time in the area.
The College is organised around the primary and middle years stages of schooling. The school has a strong focus on effective transition from Early Learning Centres to Senior Secondary education.

The key components of the teaching curriculum at Truganina College are the effective teaching of literacy and numeracy, using evidence-informed, high impact strategies. The College provides high quality learning experiences ensuring breadth and depth in all curriculum areas. Staff work together to share responsibility for and cater to the individual learning needs of all students.
The design of learning environments reflects the specific requirements of all disciplines and supports a diverse range of active, student-centred approaches that are based around the idea of learning to learn, emphasising such cross-disciplinary skills as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and teamwork whilst using information technology to support the learning.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated high level capacity to develop, lead, implement and monitor improvement plans and maintenance schedules for the grounds and buildings of a complex physical environment.
SC2 Demonstrated high level ability to manage the College Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) responsibilities as per the OHS Management System.
SC3 Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to effectively liaise with the College leadership team and staff, contractors and other agencies.
SC4 Demonstrated high level ability to lead and manage staff and work as a member of a high performing team.
SC5 Demonstrated computer skills to be capable of using Microsoft Office, the DET SMS software, Project Management Software, Worksafe Software and OH&S software as required.
SC6 Demonstrated skills and experience necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, this will include appropriate trade qualifications, technical skills and relevant expertise.

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Responsibilities Determine the work priorities schedule and approach within overall school and management policy to ensure the College is presented to the highest standard. Manage the development and effective implementation and maintenance of the College master plan for landscaping. Manage the defect period of the new College buildings. Manage the development and effective implementation and maintenance of the College master plan for minor building works for example installation of relocatable units and College playgrounds. Oversee all aspects of College maintenance and inspections in a safe, compliant and efficient manner. Raise the profile of the College facilities in the community and oversee the use of these facilities by external groups. Negotiate and manage straightforward contracts and service agreements and be both responsible and accountable for the associated documentation. Manage the College's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) responsibilities as per the OHS Management System. Liaise with school staff, senior management, external contractors to ensure compliance and best practice of the highest standard. Be both responsible and accountable for the associated OHS documentation and audit process. Provide expertise and leadership and have responsibility and accountability for guiding the work of others. Provide advice and recommendations to senior management. Organise school resources to support the effective implementation of school programs, examples could include but are not limited to preparation of spaces for a school production and placing of furniture to support school operation. Manage the school asset register in consultation with the College Principal or Business Manager. Manage the AIMS program. Manage individual budgets for areas of responsibility to ensure best practice around procurement and budget targets are met.
