Reporting to: Facilities Engineering Manager


About youWe are seeking a proactive and reliable individual who is eager to join the facilities team at our world-renowned research institute.
You are comfortable working autonomously and have a responsible attitude towards tasks, seeing them through to completion.
This is a full-time, onsite position, perfect for someone who thrives on being active and enjoys a variety of tasks, including some repetitive and manual work.


The roleThe Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting and maintaining the smooth operation of our facilities in the Lowy Packer Building, which houses the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the St Vincent's Centre for Applied Medical Research (AMR).
Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager, the position will incorporate supporting the day-to-day operations of the Institute and will also work closely with Stores and Work, Health & Safety Teams.
In particular, the Facilities Assistant will:
Perform routine maintenance tasks around the facility.Assist with setup and teardown of events, meetings, and conferences.Daily transit, removal, and replenishment of clinical bins and receptacles.Support the Facilities Engineering Manager with ensuring the facilities are kept clean, safe, and secure.What we will trust you withDaily transit, removal, and replenishment of clinical bins and receptacles.Daily transit, removal, and replenishment of linen to laboratories.Distribution and end-to-end postal services.Monitoring, distributing, and restocking non-hazardous consumables for laboratories, offices, and kitchens.Event, conference, and meeting organisation and management, including setup of audio-visual and IT equipment.Maintenance and updating of signage throughout the building.Delivery of goods to respective areas within the Institute.Ensuring efficient storage and a safe working environment in the building.Assisting the Operations team and Scientific services as needed.Scheduling and assisting researchers with regularly defrosting freezers.Maintaining building-wide visual standards for tidiness and organisation.Providing general support and assistance to the Facilities Engineering Team, Precinct Stores, and laboratory heads.Does this sound like you?Previous customer service or relevant work experience.Basic understanding of workplace safety regulations and procedures.Willingness and desire to do a hands-on and repetitive role.Ability to communicate and prioritise tasks effectively.Proactive attitude and comfortable working autonomously.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong customer service approach and skills.Experience managing office supplies and/or inventory is not essential but will be highly regarded.About usThe Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world.
