THE OPPORTUNITY This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in construction and welding to deliver pre-emptive and general maintenance as well as adjustments to our boats and barges fleet. Our Welder Fabricator team works closely with our hatcheries and processing sites to provide their service.
THE ROLE Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this position involves:
Detecting faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products Reading drawings/plans, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas shielded metal arc Examining work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications Setting up and operating hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders, and carbon rod gauging This position works a 5/2 roster and will be generally located at the Port Huon Site and at times will be required to travel to various Huon sites to perform work as and when required.
ABOUT YOU Experience with aluminium and steel welding Strong mechanical knowledge Experience in MIG and TIG welding or a similar recognised qualification are also highly regarded Enjoy working in a small team Excellent work ethic and a high attention to detail LICENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS Current drivers' Licence Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (or similar is desirable) It is an inherent requirement of this position that work be performed safely whilst upholding Huon's Values. The appointed person must be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of work health and safety regulations is preferred.
