The RoleThe EL 2 Executive Business Director will provide strategic advice and high-level business support to the Fleet Air Arm (FAA) Senior Leadership Group, with a specific focus on Navy aviation capability and related projects.
They will lead and coordinate all FAA projects and sustainment products, FAA procurements, contract management, financial management, and recruitment.
The EL 2 Executive Business Director will:
Ensure sound operational financial management for FAA, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and control.Oversee the procurement process within FAA, ensuring compliance with Defence policies and procedures and providing strategic advice and assurance on all procurement submissions.Oversee and coordinate all FAA Sustainment products related to Navy aviation and manage these at a programmatic level whilst reporting to the Navy Sustainment Review Board (NSRB) on a bi-annual basis.Manage sensitive issues and situations related to FAA as required, including critical briefings, HR, working to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes, and progressing urgent requests while ensuring business-as-usual activities are not impacted. About Our TeamThe Headquarters Fleet Air Arm Business Management Unit (BMU) is an integral and critical workforce within the Fleet Air Arm.
The BMU is a small but very dynamic, resourceful, and high-performing team, delivering and ensuring all business requirements to an expected level of professionalism to the FAA Force Commander (COMFAA).
COMFAA is responsible to the Navy Fleet Commander (COMAUSFLT) for providing operationally ready and airworthy Navy aircraft through the command and management of the Navy Aviation capability and the development, oversight and regulation of Airworthiness in accordance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR).
The BMU consists of: Business Manager providing holistic support; Business Support Officers maintaining financial integrity; Information Managers ensuring accessibility and security; Capability Manager providing analytical data analysis and Human Resource functions.
Our Ideal CandidateWe are seeking an experienced and strategic EL 2 Executive Business Director who has a track record of success in business development and possesses a comprehensive understanding of business operations and decision-making.
The successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of the responsibilities of a Navy Capability Manager Representative (CMR) acting on behalf of, or representing the Commander of the Fleet Air Arm (COMFAA).
This includes a strong knowledge of contract management, compliance, and governance reporting.
Additionally, a sound understanding of airworthiness and related regulations would be highly advantageous.

Provide advice, technical expertise, and operational support on a wide variety of business matters, including all HR, finance, procurement, and governance submissions.Guide and coordinate the business planning process for the FAA, ensuring alignment with Navy capability and related corporate strategies and initiatives.Exercise considerable degree of independence and perform a subject matter expert role, regularly interacting with the Senior Leadership Group.Our ideal EL 2 Executive Business Director will have:
