The Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) is seeking an enthusiastic Events Manager to support the execution of a wide range of events, from intimate conferences to large-scale gatherings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative and innovative events team.

The Events Manager role involves: Event Planning and Coordination:
Plan, organise, and execute various events, including dinners, meetings, conferences, and corporate functions. Venue Sourcing and Logistics:
Identify and secure suitable venues, arrange travel and accommodation, and coordinate transportation as needed. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
Engage and manage vendors, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships to ensure high-quality service. Event Technology and A/V Support:
Oversee the setup and operation of audio/visual equipment and troubleshoot technical issues. Catering and Hospitality:
Coordinate catering services, manage dietary requirements, and oversee presentation. Communication and Promotion:
Collaborate with the Communications team on event communications and serve as the primary point of contact for attendees. Budget Management:
Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Post-Event Evaluation:
Conduct evaluations to gather feedback and implement improvements for future events. To be successful in this role, applicants will have the following experience and knowledge: Tertiary qualifications in marketing and communications or another relevant field of study 5+ years of experience in corporate event planning and coordination Extensive experience in conference and event management, inclusive of travel and accommodation arrangements for up to 1,500 participants, with budgets of up to AUD$1.5 million Proven record of adhering to strict budgeting conditions whilst maintaining a high quality of service and delivering the event program in a timely manner Thorough understanding of and experience in using modern event software that allows for real time reports and analysis Proven negotiating skills and key stakeholder management ability. Additionally, to be successful in this role, the Events Manager will need to intuitively possess and/or seek to develop, the following core competencies:
Excellent time management and project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and multitask effectively to meet deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and organisation The capacity to deliver a superior standard of service with a professional friendly manner Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe, including InDesign Knowledge of audio/visual technology and event production An understanding of and previous experience in database administration and management Effective problem-solving abilities and able to respond quickly to key stakeholder needs This role requires an honest, reliable, flexible self-starter able to take initiative and work unsupervised. A proactive and supportive team member who can be creative and enterprising is being sought.
Conference management experience in orthopaedic or medical events and conferences will be well regarded.

AOA is governed by a Board of Directors elected by Fellows of the Association. The Chief Executive Officer, appointed by the Board, is responsible for AOA's operations under delegations from the Board.
