Events ACT has a full-time, permanent opportunity for a hands-on WHS professional.We are looking for someone who will enjoy being on site at our events supporting and educating our stakeholders to ensure adherence with relevant safety legislation.
There is a lot of stakeholder engagement required in this role so the ability to communicate with a wide range of workers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders professionally and respectfully is critical.There is also administrative work involved including drafting (with support from the WHS Coordinator) WHS risk assessments (including psychosocial risks assessments), emergency management plans, WHS plans and other safety related documentation so high-level organisational skills, attention to detail and a solid understanding of the Microsoft office suite of products and the ability to quickly learn other software (e.g.
SafetyCulture) is important.
This should be coupled with professional written and verbal communication skills as they apply in a government context.The ideal candidate will have a certificate IV in WHS at a minimum and strong understanding of WHS legislation as it applies to the types of contractors we regularly engage with (for example, temporary structure/marquee installation, sound, and lighting, electrical, plumbing and amusement rides to name a few).
Understanding and interpretation of WHS legislation in an office environment is also required.Flexible working arrangements are available (and encouraged), however during periods of event delivery the expectation is that the WHS Officer is available to be on site regularly to undertake site inspections, contractor verifications etc and to generally be present to provide safety advice and support the event delivery team.

This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW).
Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
