About the role
Melbourne and Olympic Parks (M&OP) are seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Manager to lead the planning and delivery of exceptional events at Margaret Court Arena within our vibrant precinct.
Reporting into the Venue Manager, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of event operations, ensuring excellence in customer experience, safety, security, and operational efficiency.
You will be a key player in a high-performing team, driving innovation, managing a diverse range of stakeholders, and ensuring that events run seamlessly, providing world-class experiences to all guests.
What you'll have the opportunity to be involved in
Event DeliveryLead large teams and manage multiple functions at events, including operational planning, safety, and workforce leadership.
Assume Duty Event Manager responsibilities in the absence of venue management.
Event PlanningAssist in the planning and coordination of events, ensuring all operational requirements and risk management plans are met.
Develop workforce strategies to optimise event outcomes.
Customer ExperienceEnsure the delivery of top-tier customer service, addressing client and guest needs while maintaining high standards of safety and legislative compliance.
Commercial ManagementManage event budgets, optimise commercial returns, and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
Risk, Security & Safety ManagementLead safety and security planning for events, working closely with external stakeholders like security teams, emergency services, and law enforcement.
Strategic LeadershipCollaborate with internal business units to drive operational improvements and contribute to long-term strategic goals.
Team Coaching & DevelopmentLead, coach, and mentor the Event Workforce, fostering a culture of high performance, teamwork, and continuous learning.
What you will bring to the role



Experience: You've got proven experience in event planning and delivery, especially in high-profile environments like arenas or stadiums.
You're well-versed when it comes to event production, from staging to AV, security, and guest services.
Leadership Skills: You thrive in leading large teams, coaching and mentoring your colleagues to success, while remaining calm under pressure.
Attention to Detail: You're a natural planner, with exceptional organisational skills that allow you to juggle multiple tasks without missing a beat.
Qualifications: You hold relevant certifications (CI, Security License, OH&S, Fire Warden, etc.
), and your experience with high-profile events sets you apart.
Desirable: Experience with event management software (like EBMS) and tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
