What you'd be doing in this role As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
Coaching six software engineers and providing leadership in managing and guiding technical discussions within the AdTech team.Actively participating in stakeholder meetings with marketing strategists and leadership to advocate for the Engineering perspective and capture engineering requirements.Working collaboratively with group leadership, product managers, and engineers across Marketing and Product to scope and deliver solutions to empower internal teams.Leading the creation of technical design documents for cross-group & cross-team initiatives and contributing to engineering timelines and sprint planning.Designing, developing, and deploying solutions with hands-on software development, while effectively communicating with Program Managers, Product Managers, and Engineers.Taking initiative in achieving goals, improving processes, and identifying opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new ideas and improvements.You're probably a match if you have Proven success in both technical and people leadership, with honed skills in overseeing a high-performing team.Experience working in platform teams. Understanding of Java, TypeScript, protocol buffers, cloud infrastructure (including AWS), and observability and reliability practices would be a huge bonus.Thrives in working collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders such as product and influencing where needed.Articulate with a strong background in writing, presenting, and communicating with stakeholders from various technical backgrounds and vernaculars.Experience working with marketing teams, SEM, or marketers would be a huge bonus, though not necessary.About the team The MarTech Group's mission is to propel Canva's Global Growth by delivering innovative and scalable solutions that empower marketing, engage customers, and amplify brand experience. MarTech designs and implements intelligent marketing technology solutions to drive efficiency, scalability, and optimization across Marketing operations. Our work spans from AI-powered automation and data analytics to centralized asset management and personalization platforms, enabling marketing teams to make smarter decisions and deliver impactful campaigns globally.
The Ad Tech team's mission is to accelerate Canva's growth through innovative advertising technology solutions that revolutionize how we create, optimize, and deliver ads at scale. We build and maintain mission-critical internal platforms that power Canva's marketing efforts, combining cutting-edge automation, data science, and artificial intelligence to drive user acquisition and maximize marketing ROI. Through our internal flagship products - Marketing Hub and Data Shipper - we enable Canva marketers to create high-performing campaigns while intelligently targeting high-value users across global markets.
