The Cabinet Team at Treasury supports the department and portfolio with the administrative arrangements for the Cabinet system of the Australian Government.
The team is responsible for:
Facilitating and managing the development and lodgement of Treasury's submissions for Cabinet and Cabinet Committees, ensuring they meet Cabinet protocols.Providing accurate and timely advice and support to the department on Cabinet protocols and processes.Managing the distribution of submissions within Treasury, including the coordination of departmental comments.Coordinating briefing and meeting packs for the Secretary on items to be considered at meetings of Cabinet and Cabinet Committees.Conducting regular audits of the department's holdings of Cabinet material.The successful candidate will:
Be a professional and collaborative team leader who is proactive and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.Build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including other government departments and ministers' offices.Possess sound judgement and well-developed organisational skills with setting and managing the team's priorities.Have clear and effective verbal communication skills and is confident presenting Cabinet protocols and processes at various forums.Manage the team's work on a rostered basis during peak periods, such as in the lead up to Budget and MYEFO, including being on-call after business hours and on weekends (restriction allowance applies).Desirable Qualifications / Experience Cabinet experience or ministerial/ parliamentary experience is highly desirable.Hold an existing NV1 security clearance (or higher) or be willing to undergo the NV1 vetting assessment as the role is required to regularly handle classified material.The Treasury of AustraliaThe Commonwealth Treasury began operations in Melbourne in January 1901, the smallest of the seven Commonwealth departments established with Federation.
