The Role
The ARH Commercial Manager is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex to very complex contract management activities working within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives. Responsible for implementing procurement activities that comply with legislative and policy frameworks. Accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business objectives, taking the initiative for achieving outcomes, progressing work, reviewing team and business performance and focusing on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Working with independence and set work tasks that align with the strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes, managing stakeholder engagement and identifying relevant stakeholders' expectations and apply procurement methodology to achieve appropriate outcomes. Accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development, having people management responsibility and as such be required to exercise people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team.
Tasks include:

Manage the ARH Commercial Team, manage allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
Manage and lead the ARH Commercial team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
Accountable for providing advice and support to planning and contract management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
Demonstrate and apply the application of legal and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities.
Manage and provide clear direction, assistance and services relating to procurement policy issues and commercial, legal, financial investigation, technical and other requirements as applicable in order to support contract management outcomes.
Manage contract related documentation including templates, schedules, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk and performance reviews, contract change proposals and other contract management documentation.
Engage, negotiate and persuade internal and external stakeholders, respond to complex enquiries relating to a platform contract and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action to ensure resolution.
Design and implement mitigation strategies for the risks associated with contract management activities, supplier's performance and compliance with mandatory requirements and suggest relevant improvement.
