About the Opportunity The Education Program Manager is responsible for the management of the Library's education program to achieve ongoing engagement and meaningful learning outcomes for diverse education audiences, with a focus on school-aged children and teachers. The position provides leadership to the Library's education staff and ensures design and delivery of education programs and partnerships to the highest standard, with links to the curriculum, growth in learning impact, and alignment with the Library's purpose and strategy.
Working within the Audience Engagement Branch, this role oversees a strategic program of formal learning and enrichment activity (onsite, digital and hybrid) that grows education audience reach, access and participation and aligns to curriculum learning objectives through the design and delivery of a range of inclusive education programs. The role ensures education programs draw on the Library's collections and services, connect to planned and future exhibitions, and are responsive to education audiences' changing needs to build skills in research, literacy and other identified curriculum areas.
The Education Program Manager is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
Education strategy - Develop and deliver the Library's education strategy, in collaboration with key stakeholders, to grow reach, engagement and learning outcomes with an emphasis on school-aged people and teachers, focusing on meeting audiences' changing needs, aligning programs to curriculum goals (such as research and critical analysis skills, increased literacy, and digital literacy) and making full use of the unique Library exhibitions, collections, expertise and resources to benefit education audiences.Performance outcomes management - Ensure measurable growth in quality, learning outcomes, reach, access, innovation and sustainability of student and teacher programs, tours and events.Education team leadership - Provide specialist expertise, advice and leadership on curriculum-based learning to the education team, to inform the best practice design and operational delivery of primary and secondary school programs that result in rich learning outcomes for diverse learners and educators.Grants and partnerships - Support and establish funding, grants and opportunities to ensure financial and operational sustainability, enable continuous improvement and growth in reach, access and participation across the education program.Project management and processes - Develop and ensure effective collaborative working processes with the education staff to support the efficient delivery of multiple programs, partnerships, training and initiatives, that meet budgets, resource models and timelines.Stakeholder relationships and communications - Establish and maintain positive relationships and communications with internal and external stakeholders to support and grow the overall impact of the Library education program. This includes education and government organisations, networks and partners and internal stakeholders including Exhibitions and Collections.About You The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of the Victorian and Australian curriculum and education sector trends, networks and practices and expertise in developing curriculum-aligned education programs as well as developing learning programs strategy. In addition, you will come with:
Tertiary qualifications in education.Experience in teaching.A current and valid Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and training staff in innovative and inclusive education programming that meet the needs of diverse education audiences.Experience in education programming for school groups and teachers in a cultural organisation context.Demonstrated experience utilising current and up to date learning theories and practices to develop best practice programs and resources that address curriculum needs.Demonstrated experience in end-to-end project management and team co-ordination, including a track record of completion of projects within required timeframes and budget.State Library Victoria is a child-safe organisation.
