We are looking for an exceptional person to lead our cutting-edge Environmental DNA (eDNA) laboratory, located in Brunswick, Victoria. The laboratory manager is a key member of the EnviroDNA management team and must be able to work with precision, consistency, and robust structure. You thrive on strong relationships and are able to build, operationalise and communicate quality systems to ensure our laboratory operations can continue to scale in line with our business expansion plans.

Who will you be working with For nearly seven years we have been EnviroDNA – Australia's largest commercial provider of environmental DNA (eDNA) solutions. We are a purpose-driven business focused on ensuring robust biodiversity data is at the centre of industrial ESG operations and land management. We help industrial B2B and B2C organisations, governments and regulators, traditional owner groups and not-for-profits map biodiversity using eDNA methods and digital solutions. We are in the early stages of the company's growth, busy with market development, product/service development and R&D activities.
Principle Accountabilities Mission: evolve and lead a worldclass eDNA laboratory operation to deliver projects consistently on time and under budget.
The eDNA Laboratory Manager is accountable for:
Providing genomic laboratory diagnostic products and services.Adhering to specimen preparation procedures.Implementing new programs, tests, methods and instrumentation.Establishing accredited quality standards to maintain genomic laboratory equipment performance.Keeping supplies stocked by determining inventory level.Maintaining laboratory productivity by monitoring the workload of functional areas.Contributing to core sample processing activities.Leading the implementation of NATA Certification.Achieving quality results by participating in quality assurance programs.Identifying informational needs to manage laboratory information systems.Maintaining laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and supervising employees.Completing operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees. Requirements – does this sound like you? A bachelor's degree in genetics, biology or chemistry (post-graduate degree highly regarded).5+ years' experience as a lab manager.Extensive experience with qPCR, sequencing and / or amplicon metabarcoding.Ability and drive to solve practical problems.Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.Project management skills, including the ability to track and manage inventory using information management systems.Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business inquiries, including technical RFQ/RFP. Experience in implementing and managing operations to internationally recognised quality standards such as NATA or ISO.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.Passionate about environmental sustainability and conservation.A natural team player who resonates with our company values and purpose.
