Details of the offer

Green & Associates Solicitors is a leading and growing law firm with established practice areas in Property, Commercial Law, Litigation, Deceased Estates and Criminal Law. Our practice is unique in the way in which these areas overlap for us and our clients, which provides for an exciting and dynamic work experience. In order to keep up and keep progressing, we need to expand the talent pool and skill set, and reallocate our human resources. This will get our Principal back to holding initial conferences with clients and setting strategy while asking the right questions and giving advice, then teaching the other more junior staff and setting them on their way, while handling new enquiries and also running the business, all the while upskilling everyone at the same time, including you (depending on your level of skill, autonomy and performance – TBC) Also, as we continue to expand, we are looking for people who want to stay long term, and grow in their skill and efficiency as our workload continues to grow. The bulk of our Principal's litigation is complex and novel, which requires serious critical thinking and creativity, quick wit and an open mind, and in turn, an intricate knowledge of many different areas of the law so a more experienced person would do well. Dominic also needs help with settling some of the work of others and doing the highly difficult tasks, so someone who could do those things and provide guidance to others while he is busy in Court, seeing clients or running the business is needed. The practice does everything relating to a wide variety of exciting, stimulating and respectable disputes and litigation, and depending on practicality, this unique role could be as big or as little as you want in terms of client interaction, involvement with billing and fees, Court appearances and drafting, transactions, regulations, and anything else you can think of, as long as the Tetris matrix works alongside our other staff. The job would be a dream for someone with a couple of years behind their belt looking to step up to the next level, or bored and wanting some stimulation and variety, or even just someone looking for a better work environment with a more relaxed approach or more earning potential. About us Green & Associates Solicitors is a unique boutique law firm in the heart of Sydney's Kings Cross, right on the outskirts of the Sydney CBD and nestled between the hubs of the top of commercial and residential real estate, with a brand-new amazing office and amazing food epicentre at our doorstep. We have a bustling litigation and disputes practice, a high net-worth estate-planning and deceased estates practice, a serious criminal law practice, and a vast array of commercial and property matters, with each division working under the one roof. Litigation has, and continues to, grow rapidly, and as such, we have both senior roles that need filling and can provide the potential for uncapped professional and financial growth. You should know, we are not your run-of-the-mill law firm. We break all the stereotypes with our young, dynamic, fun, and relaxed set-up. We are looking for someone that fits our laid-back and friendly culture, with good banter, and a dog lover. Importantly, we are also looking for someone autonomous, diligent and keen enough to earn profit shares on top of an already generous base salary. The Opportunity We have a unique opportunity for a lawyer admitted in New South Wales to assist the Principal and the team with a workload growing in size and complexity. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of matters across different jurisdictions, with interesting, novel and challenging cases. Never a dull moment The role could suit someone quite senior, with circa 10 Years PQE, or two people with 3-5, or one in between with one to two juniors. Some seniority and autonomy is essential, as the Principal requires assistance overseeing and managing case loads, timetables, client needs and more junior staff. This will include providing guidance and settling draft work. We are also open to discussions to accommodate the transfer of an existing practice and a small team, and various commercial arrangements for doing so. We have more than enough work to keep you busy, so bringing in clients or business is not essential, but of course we appreciate entrepreneurialism and reward it. You will have an ability to research quickly and thoroughly, think strategically about problem-solving, give useful, clear and conclusive advice and information, and work critically and effectively on documents (including Court documents, affidavit evidence, settlement deeds and more). You will not be scared to push novel ideas, strategies or arguments, nor to negotiate in unorthodox manners. You will also take a non-nonsense, cut-to-the-chase commercial and expedient approach. What we do is varied, unconventional and sometimes complex. The nature and type of work is unlimited, as are the clients. This, and the size of our Firm and the speed and efficiency of our staff, mean there is nowhere to hide when initiative is lacking, or when things are not getting done. Having said that, there is a huge reward for performance and dedication, and never any reason you should not seek guidance from one of several experienced and friendly staff straight away when you think you might be wasting time not knowing the particular practice and procedure in a specific Court or Tribunal or even just our software or internal systems, and not only not get criticised or judged, but better yourself in the process. You will not be afraid to ask for help, speak up about time and possible wrong approaches, clarify instructions or tasks, have something explained better, or even ask to swap work or have a superior take over or guide you through, and you will realise the importance of that at face value, and trust those senior when they say they want you to come to them, rather than retreat and waste more time and money and only make yourself anxious or sad in the meantime. You will also be hungry and hardworking, eager to learn and soak things up like a sponge, and not too scared to have a go at things when asked. You will not be entitled or lacking in initiative, work ethic or drive. Most importantly, you will have a sharp, quick wit, and have a love of the game. About you Strong and current experience, strategic handling of legal and practical problems and ability to learn new processes; Autonomous & Proactive with the ability to hit the ground running and take initiative; Strong verbal and written communication skills, good people-reading skills; Excellent time management skills, ability to use MS Suite, LEAP legal software and computers generally with confidence, keen eye for detail and good common sense; Willing to work with the team to achieve great results and respectful and positive attitude, and relaxed and flexible about the needs of the Firm and its clients (which will be reciprocated); Personable and well presented, but most importantly, you will be warm and open, a fan of banter, social and approachable (as our friendly culture is extremely important to us); Maturity, professionalism, patience and mentoring skills; and Entrepreneurial: although not essential, the Firm is growing and is willing to take on your ideas and work with you to achieve our unrivalled profit-share incentives Working at G&A, every day is different - you will find yourself assisting with very gratifying, high-profile, and interesting matters, then also helping improve the Firm's internal systems, recovering its debts, and assisting also with some marketing and events where the team is. There is plenty of room to grow with the firm, take charge of the work that you do and make a real difference in our community, given Dominic's role as Treasurer of the Potts Point Partnership (chamber of commerce) and with the body corporate committee of our office building. Some of the perks Flexible working arrangements, dress & work-life balance. No micromanaging, set targets or other rigid "old school" burdens. Competitive salary and packages on offer. Practising certificates, memberships, subscriptions, software and hardware, stationary, reimbursements and anything else needed for work paid for in addition. Unlimited ability to profit-share in addition to generous salary, with quarterly incentive and performance reviews. Mentorship and career guidance where desired or required, together with autonomy where not. No barriers for career progression. Our contact base and extended team, from barristers to industry experts and locals, and our relationships with them, are second to none Pro-equality and diversity. Beautiful location and a 2-minute walk from Kings Cross Station. Gorgeous & friendly office dog named 'Ivy'. Friendly and close team with young culture, positive dynamic, no toxic vibes, top-notch banter and an open-door policy. Regular social and team-building events. Extremely interesting and rewarding work/client base. Guaranteed Christmas holidays. Ideally, we would like someone who can jump on board immediately or as soon as possible.
