As the Discipline Lead - Flooding, you'll combine technical expertise with dynamic leadership to design and oversee projects that meet the highest industry standards, comply with environmental regulations, and exceed client expectations. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, champion cutting-edge solutions, and make a tangible difference in building safer, more resilient communities.
Key responsibilities: Lead the delivery of flood risk assessments, designs, and mitigation projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and technical standards. Provide expert technical advice on flood modelling, hydraulic analysis, and floodplain management using industry-standard software (e.g., TUFLOW).Mentor and manage a team of flood engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement in flood engineering practices, while providing guidance on complex technical challenges.Engage with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders, preparing and presenting technical reports, proposals, and recommendations to ensure successful project outcomes and compliance with Australian standards and legislation.Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments and design mitigation solutions, including floodplain mapping, flood forecasting, and infrastructure such as levees, culverts, dams, and flood diversion channels, using advanced modelling techniques.Stay at the forefront of flood engineering advancements, driving innovation by integrating new tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance project outcomes and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and local codes.Required Skills and Competencies Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related field.Extensive experience in flood engineering, hydrology and flood risk management.Proven track record of leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex flood-related projects.Extensive experience with flood modelling software (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and similar tools).Strong understanding of Australian flood regulations, standards, and local government policies.ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023 & 2024 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
