Job Title: Disability Support Worker Job Description: The NDIS Workforce Capability Framework describes this role as a General Support Worker for services funded under the NDIS. Persons working within this role are responsible for using the strategies determined in the participant's support plan.
All practices are participant-focused and promote their choices, rights and decisions. Due to the variable nature of participants, this role requires the worker to promote participants' voices, choices and report any areas of concern. The participant is at the centre of all practices.
Workers are required to follow all policies and procedures and report to management:

Main Duties / Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of a Disability Support Worker is to provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities in order to help them achieve their goals, enhance their quality of life, and promote their social inclusion. This includes:
Individualized support Personal care Skill development Community participation Documentation and reporting Collaboration and communication Safety and well-being Implement personal hygiene and infection control procedures Work Practices Duties will vary according to the participant's support plan but may include:
Assisting people to perform important daily activities Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks Performing home-based tasks such as food preparation and housework Undertaking tasks outside the home such as shopping Providing emotional support and companionship 1. Individualized Support: Work closely with NDIS participants to understand their specific needs, goals, and preferences. Assist participants in developing and implementing personalized support plans that align with NDIS guidelines. Provide practical assistance and emotional support to enable participants to engage in daily activities and routines. build relationships with clients based on mutual respect recognise and report any threat towards the client in circumstances and environment 2. Personal Care: Assist participants with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation, while respecting their dignity and preferences. Administer medication in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. To support clients to attend health appointments such as GP or dental appointments. 3. Skill Development: Support participants in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and self-care. Implement strategies outlined in participants' plans to help them achieve their goals, such as learning new skills or pursuing education and employment opportunities. Support clients to build their confidence and independence 4. Community Participation: Facilitate and encourage participants' engagement in community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities to promote social inclusion. Assist participants in accessing public transportation and accompany them to community outings as needed. 5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, progress, and outcomes in accordance with NDIS documentation requirements. To be able to be specific as possible when documenting client's progress and all the details of the shift. Prepare reports and documentation for NDIS reviews and assessments as necessary. 6. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other members of the client services team, including therapists, healthcare professionals, and family members, to ensure a holistic approach to care. Identify needs and strategies of clients with the help with other members of the team Communicate effectively with participants, their families, and support coordinators to ensure transparency and continuity of care. 7. Safety and Wellbeing: Adhere to NDIS policies, guidelines, and protocols related to participant safety and wellbeing. Identify and address potential risks to participants' health and safety and report any concerns promptly. Qualifications/ Requirements: First Aid Certificate Drivers License Valid Working With Children's Check Valid NDIS worker Check Valid National Police Certificate Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle New Worker NDIS Induction Module Smartphone Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or a related field such as Individual support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services (preferred). Experience: Preferred minimum six months relevant experience Experience supporting people with disability Demonstrated continuing professional development. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles Use of equipment related to personal and work safety Supported participants in hygiene practices Skills: Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with various ages, cultures and ability levels Ability to build rapport and trust with clients. Strong time management Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs and other computer systems for record-keeping. Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills. Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships. Job Type: Casual
Pay: $32.00 – $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 35 per week
