We are seeking a Director Strategic Planning to provide strategic leadership and direction, driving AV's Strategic Planning functions, providing expertise and oversight in the development and delivery of AV's Strategic, Annual, Divisional and Regional Plans including leading the governance of project delivery and reporting on portfolio progress, risks, and performance.
This is a full-time, fixed term position (ending 31 August 2025) within our Strategy & Engagement Department. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role Reporting to the Executive Director Strategy & Engagement, this role will be responsible for providing strategic authoritative advice to AV Executive, Committees, and the Board, along with the provision of internal consultancy and capability development, in high level strategic planning practices across the organisation. Responsibilities include (not limited to):
Lead and oversee the organisation wide development and delivery of portfolio management capability including strategic prioritisation, project planning, project delivery and Executive/Board reporting.Oversee and drive the design and establishment of a Planning Framework for AV, including establishment of governance and reporting arrangements.Regularly monitor and report on the implementation of AV strategic and annual plans and related performance indicators, providing reliable information about performance to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board and Department of Health.Lead AV's strategic planning process, ensuring alignment of strategic initiatives with organisational objectives and incorporating extensive input from across the organisation and (where appropriate) external stakeholders.Provide strong and effective leadership by fostering a performance based, collaborative culture focussed on continuous improvement and commitment to best practice.About you To be considered for this position, you will have completed a postgraduate degree or industry specialised certification supplemented with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience in a Business and/or Public Administration related discipline. Other requirements include (not limited to):
Significant experience in the management of the strategic planning function of large, complex service delivery organisations.Extensive experience managing a portfolio of projects including investment principles, alignment to strategic plan and adherence to planning and delivery methodologies.Extensive experience in stakeholder consultation and facilitation with a demonstrated record in delivering high quality advice and solutions to a range of stakeholders in both corporate and operational capacity.Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, including the ability to prepare high quality reports, papers, and presentations for a variety of audiences.Proven experience and success in building and leading high-performing teams.Working at Ambulance Victoria As a valued member of AV you will enjoy a professional working environment that recognises the importance of work/life balance.
