The role sits within the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), a leading geoscience organisation responsible for the acquisition, synthesis and release of precompetitive data for Western Australia. If you're an innovative and forward-thinking individual who values collaboration then this could be the role for you.The roleAs the Director of Resource Security, you will lead strategic initiatives and possess a keen understanding of emerging issues within the portfolio, which include Land Use Planning, the Abandoned Mines Program (AMP), Policy, and Legislation. This role is critical in safeguarding access to the State's mineral and energy resources by fostering collaboration on resource and land-use policy development, driving legislative amendments, and ensuring effective and sustainable land-use management.Your strong leadership skills combined with your knowledge of the resources sector and government will be key to your success in this role. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Directorate, and will leverage your advanced negotiation skills to collaborate, including with other government departments, to drive the State's priorities while ensuring a balanced approach.To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.A detailed resume outlining your key achievements, work history, education and professional development and covering letter of no more than one page, demonstrating your leadership skills and addressing the following points:Thorough understanding of the resources sector with appropriate industry experience.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of policy and or legislation development.High-level critical thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills.We are proud to be recognised as an Inclusive Employer for 2023-2024 by Diversity Council Australia.
