The Director, Operations and Engagement, Justice Reform Office (JRO) will be responsible for leading strategic justice reform stakeholder engagement and coordination functions, with a focus on providing high-level Secretariat support to Committees and Councils.
The position sits within the Justice Reform Office (JRO) within the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG).
The JRO is tasked with leading reform of Queensland's criminal justice system.
The JRO develops, tests, and implements initiatives to reform the criminal justice system.
Our work is based on evidence and focuses on new approaches to:
reduce demand on courts and prisonsmodernize Queensland's lawsimprove programs to divert people away from the criminal justice systemhelp people to break the cycle of reoffendingA key function of the JRO is to provide support to the Independent Ministerial Advisory Council (IMAC), a new body that provides advice to Ministers and government agencies on criminal justice issues.

The IMAC offers its advice and guidance on reforming the criminal justice system and improving support for victims and victim-survivors, particularly in relation to youth crime.
Members of the IMAC include victim-survivors, victim advocates, representatives from the legal sector and peak advocacy bodies, First Nations leaders, and expert practitioners.
