Dorset Council currently have a full-time opportunity for a Director of Corporate Services to join Council's Management Team.
In this pivotal role, you will lead, plan, organise, manage, and report on the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Corporate Services Department in accordance with statutory requirements and Council's policies, strategies and plans, including:
Financial Management, Rates and Treasury;Customer Service and Administration;Human Resources and Organisational Development;Information Management and Technology; andProcurement, Property and Contracts.Reporting to the General Manager, you will be part of a high performing and cohesive executive management team who will trust in your ability to make decisions, to create an impact and to contribute to the collective success of the team.
This role oversees and has direct responsibility for the following departments, all of which report directly to this position: Finance/Treasury, Human Resources, Risk Management, Information Technology, Information Management, Customer Service, Administration, Rates, and Facility Management.
Key Responsibilities To participate as part of Council's Management Team and proactively support the Management Team in leading and coordinating the activities of Council, implementing the strategic imperatives of Council and promoting Council's key values;Provide effective and proactive leadership and guidance to staff and motivate staff to achieve organisation and team values, goals and objectives by modelling a high standard of professional conduct;Oversee effective and engaged financial management practices that ensure corporate, financial and governance compliance across the organisation;Lead the effective planning and delivery of Council's Human Resources operations and framework and ensure it is compliant with relevant legislation;Lead the operation of Council's Risk Management, Work Health & Safety Management, Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework and internal/external performance audit functions, taking all reasonable steps to reduce Council's exposure to liability; andOversee the management of the property and facilities of Council to achieve the best outcome for the facility, considering the operational needs of relevant departments, community needs and Council's policies.Qualifications and Experience Demonstrated experience in an equivalent role and environment managing and providing quality leadership to a multi-disciplinary team;High-level leadership and management skills with the ability to build strong rapport and engaging working relationships;Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing, presentation and meeting/workshop facilitation;Understanding of financial management, budgeting and reporting practices;Vast demonstrated experience in managing similar function areas; andLocal government experience or experience within a similar, large and complex organisation would assist your transition into this role.To Apply If you are ready to take on this exciting leadership role and contribute to the future of Dorset, we invite you to submit your application.
