The purpose of the role is to provide the Balance Sheet, Liquidity and Funding Management (BLF) function with best-in-class behavioural modelling capability and expertise to support the management of the Group's balance sheet behavioural models - an integral component of the banks FTP framework.
The role is situated within the Business Partnering team—a cornerstone of the larger Balance Sheet, Liquidity, and Funding Management (BLF) team. Business Partnering act as a key interface between the businesses and Group Treasury for all balance sheet, funding and liquidity-related matters, and manage the Group's Liquidity Transfer Pricing Framework.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop Best Practices: Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and evolve best-in-market practices for modelling balance sheet behaviour. Behavioural Maturity Framework: Facilitate the ongoing management and development of Westpac's Behavioural Maturity Framework, including the enhancement of guidelines, controls and governance standards. Data Management: Perform data extraction. staging, cleansing and manipulation to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data used in modelling exercises. Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis: Lead generation of analytics to help inform transfer pricing settings and provides insights to senior management to assist in strategic decision making. Business Advisory: Collaboration with key Treasury, Business and Risk stakeholders regarding key aspects of Funds Transfer pricing and balance sheet management. Education & Initiatives: Lead educational and awareness initiatives relating the stability and duration Awareness of various products across the Bank. What's in it for me? Experience in a Treasury, Product or Risk Function with demonstratable quantitative analysis applications. Strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as SAS, SQL, R or Python. Exposure to Transfer Pricing and/or Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book. Exposure to survival model analysis in a finance or insurance setting. Ability to present complex models & concepts to senior management, bringing a commercial lens to quantitative output.
